About the course
Comprehensive training in childhood vision assessment and management
This short course is designed for eye care and health practitioners seeking to build on their entry-level competencies and advance their knowledge and skills in paediatric eye care. It provides practical, evidence-based training in the diagnosis and management of common childhood vision disorders, including refractive error, strabismus and amblyopia. Ideal for those involved in childhood vision screening programs, working with a high volume of paediatric patients or practising in collaborative, team-based care settings, this course supports lifelong learning and clinical excellence in paediatric eye health.

Ann Webber
Professor – UNSW
Clinical Optometrist & academic who is recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in paediatric optometry, vision science clinical research, and clinical teaching. She has decades of experience as an optometrist in private and public settings, and currently holds appointments with the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Queensland University of Technology and UNSW Sydney.
Amanda Lea
Lecturer – UNSW Medicine & Health
Amanda is a paediatric optometrist and education focused academic at UNSW where she is involved in the clinical teaching of paediatric optometry, binocular vision and myopia control to pre-registration optometrists and vision science students. Amanda has special interests in evidence-based clinical teaching and practice, and co-convenes the paediatric strand of the final year Master of Clinical Optometry course.
Mosaed Alhasan
Associate Professor – King Saud University
Consultant Optometrist & Associate Professor of Optometry at King Saud University. He holds a Master’s and PhD from the University of Waterloo in Canada, with academic and clinical expertise in binocular vision and pediatric vision care.
Lama Alsamnan
Pediatric optometrist – King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital
Lama holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from King Saud University, with clinical focus areas in pediatric vision care, amblyopia, binocular vision, and myopia management.
